The Final Cut | Database of Machine Vision in Art, Games and Narratives

Individuals are implanted at birth with a EYE tech chip that records their life as a movie. After death, so-called cutters edit the film into a montage to be shown at their funeral.

The director is Lebanese although the movie is listed in Wikipedia as a co-production between USA, Canada and Germany. It is set in the USA.

Posters advertising the Zoe implant along the street are red with EYE spelt in large capitals filling almost the whole poster - the tagline at the bottom reads "ALL YOU EXPERIENCE". The last E is printed backwards, and with the bright red and white it gives strong connotations to Soviet design. Black and white protest poster have been pasted on top of some of the posters, with retro "eyes" pasted on as well. (00:39:29) - Jill 02.05.2021

Started to enter situation where Hakman sees the face of the person he thought he had killed as a child in one of.his clients life history film, and he orders the "Guillotine" (the cutting/editing machine) to search for all instances of thet face. It takes several days for the guillotine to find them all. The verbs were so boring though (identifying, searching) that I scrapped it, we have a lot of these and the situation doesn't add anything.
