Description (in English)

In 1983, in order to develop a new poetics and at the same time create a new field for holographic art, Eduardo Kac conceived a project in the intersection between poetry and visual art, which he named holographic poetry or holopoetry. He looked for a dialogue with other disciplines, with the psychology of perception, quantum mechanics, holistic philosophy and fractal geometry, in an attempt to make the word-image continuum a new holographic value that is defined precisely in the flow between two codes: the verbal and the visual. The interface of art with other fields of knowledge, such as physics and mathematics, has brought an important collaboration to the pictorial and poetic vocabulary in the last century. In the 21st century, he believed, this interface would be fundamental.
Creating luminously structured texts in space, to be “read” with both eyes, each one, sending different information to the brain according to the relative positions of the observer, the holopoems consisted of  of a research that expanded the possibilities of holographic technique. Faced with a holopoem, the brain is constantly changing the way of mentally “assembling” the text, based on the inputs received during the different fixations of the eyes on the letters in space. We are facing a new way of thinking about the poem, in which words take on oscillatory configurations in variable and pre-programmed times and spaces.
